The fleece
Brushed fleece is soft inside and warm; french terry is lighter, more breathable, and works year-round. 280 to 350 gsm is the standard team sweatshirt; beyond 400 gsm you enter heavy, highly structured hoodie territory.

Crew or hood
The crew neck is more understated, easier to wear at work, and leaves a clean chest marking area. The hood is more desirable with younger teams, but the kangaroo pocket and drawcords cut into the space available for a large graphic.

The marking area
Fleece is embroidery's best ground: dense enough to hold crisp relief, heavy enough that thread never distorts it. For a large back graphic, prefer screen printing, which covers without stiffening the knit.
